We are family of 5 who love the outdoors, 4x4ing, photography and exploring new places.
Our camping and 4x4 setup has grown and evolved since purchasing our first 4x4 in 2013, a 1999 Toyota Landcruiser (still our current car) and have gone through the evolution of tents (Oztrail, Oztent, Blackwolf) and swags (Darche) through to our new to us 2017 Jayco Flamingo Outback Camper.
We are Andrew and Dayel with our 3 kids, Aspen (22), Lincoln (19) and Jackson (9). We also travel with Charley, our Staffy. From September 2023 we hit the road full time leaving the bigger 2 kids at home.
Andrew has worked in the corporate world in Sales for over 10 years and likes nothing better than hitting the road and finding a quiet place to watch the sunset and escape the hustle and bustle of city/corporate life. Andrew is all about photos of the car, family and sunsets and loves those dusty outback roads.
Dayel has always had travel in her blood, travelling extensively as a young adult and working as a travel agent for many years before covid put a dampener on that. Dayel is now a yoga teacher and teachers aid and is all about photos of the kids and nature with plant photos being an arguable very close second to photos of the kids. Dayel loves camping near water, especially the beach, so long as nobody tracks sand back into the tent/camper.
Aspen loves natures and whilst enjoys exploring the great outdoors, hot showers are a priority so keeps to shorter trips now and doesn’t get out as much. Aspen is our wildlife and nature warrior who is all about sustainability caring for the environment.
Lincoln in an avid fisherman who now has his Toyota Land Cruiser to get to those remote fishing spots and is right into beach driving and to remote spots to camp with mates.
Jackson is our little tech guy who aspires to being a youtuber. He loves pokemon, minecraft and lego. Please make sure you check out his YouTube page available on our contact us page.
Our first major trip as a family was in 2016 to Cape York where we found it really challenging to understand what was really required to go on the kind of trip we wanted to do.
Through some trial and error and maybe a few frowning and frustrated setups and pack downs we have slowly worked out what setup works best for us.
Since our first trip we have travelled through the Simpson Desert, K’Gari (formerly Fraser Island), The Victoria High Country, Moreton Island, Outback Queensland as well as many shorter weekend trips predominantly around South East Queensland.
