Flinders Ranges 2022

Real-4x4-Adventures--Flinders-Ranges22

The trip was originally meant to be a Simpson Desert trip but abnormally high amounts of rain required a change in plans. We left from Brisbane headed West to Cunnamulla and then onto the Noccundra Hotel.

The road was closed to get to Camerons Corner so we headed toward Innamincka.

We past the Bourke and Wills Dig tree and then after fuelling up in Innamincka and getting some advice on the weather and road closures we headed down the famous Strzelecki Track. This was in great condition and regularly maintained due to the mining in the area. We continued to the turn off for Arkaroola and then headed in to Arkaroola Village where we stayed for 2 nights whilst we monitored the weather.

Arkaroola has so much to offer for Nature lovers. I also finally fulfilled a long time desire to visit Sillers Lookout which is part of Arkaroola’s Ridge top tour. The weather was becoming less and less favourable and it became clear we needed to abort the Simpson Desert Crossing. We left Arkaroola and headed for Razorback Lookout in Ikara-Flinders Ranges National Park. A beautiful spot even in the pouring rain. On the way to Razorback lookout we past an amazing campsite, Acraman Campground.

Will definitely be back to stay there. After Razorback Lookout we made our way toward Broken Hill which also had road closures and then toward Dubbo and home safely.
