We picked up our Toyota Landcruiser in 2013 as a reasonably standard vehicle and have slowly modified it, making adjustments for out style of trips and requirements. The bulbar (ARB), roof rack (ARB) and rear bar (Kaymar) were all already on the car. It is a GXL model with the 1hz (naturally aspirated) diesel engine.
Our first modification we made was moving away from road tyres to offroad tyres and whilst we have had a number of different brands and types we now have Cooper STT mud tyres.
The car has upgraded suspension with Bilstein shock absorbers and King Springs and whilst we have had a couple of different setups we now have a 2inch lift in the front and 3 inch lift in the back and also air bags (Air bag man) in the rear for towing. These upgrades along with others have also allowed us to increase the GVM of the car.
We have a GME CB radio and antenna.
We added a second battery and were initially just using an isolator (redarc) but now have a dual battery charger with solar input. We have a cable from the auxiliary battery to the back of the car (inside) as well as to the bumper for the camper.
We have had a range of different driving lights but the current ones we have were on clearance from ALDI and have so far performed amazingly.
We have upgraded the under body protection with Sliders/sidesteps for side protection and front bash plate for radiator and steering dampener protection from Elite Engineering Queensland. We also have a front diff protection plate and transfer case protection plate from Superior Engineering.
We have an upgraded 2.5 inch exhaust from Beaudesert Exhaust including extractors. This has helped with better fuel efficiency and slight upgrade in power and torque.
In the rear of the car we have an ARB rear air locker and on ARB compressor mounted in the vehicle which we also use for inflating tyres.
Internally we have Razorback 4x4 seat covers for the front and middle row of seats. We don’t currently have the rear (third) row of seats in.
In the very back we have a cargo barrier with XTM drawer with fridge slide, Ridge 4x4 Kitchen slide and 75l Dometic Dual zone fridge.
