The Granites on the Westall Loop, just outside of Streaky Bay, South Australia on the Eyre Peninsula is an amazing spot. Clear water rockpools to explore and take in the beauty of the rock formations and colours.

Smooth Pool on the Westall Loop, just out of Streaky Bay, South Australia is a beautiful spot to explore rock pools and according to people we met who had just been snorkelling, advised it is amazing to explore under water. Sharks are a real factor in the area so care is required. We stayed there for a few hours, had a picnic lunch, explored the rockpools and chatted with other people there. Highly recommend the Westall Loop and Smooth pool for anyone coming through Streaky Bay and the Eyre Peninsula.

Davenport Creek camping area is approximately 40km from Ceduna. To get to the camping area you do require a 4wd to drive on the sandy track. We dropped our tyre pressures and had no problems. There were not many people around so have a plan on how you will recover yourself if you are alone. If you plan to camp you need to be self sufficient. There is a basic toilet as shown in the video. We found it a little confusing with the tracks so you will need to be careful. Video by Real 4x4 Adventures

Ceduna Shelly beach Caravan Park is on the outskirts of Ceduna, about 5 minutes drive from the centre of town. There are several other caravan parks in town. We really liked this one due to the beach, large sites, many trees and quiet environment. Video by Real 4x4 Adventures

Kingoonya Caravan Park is in Kingoonya, just behind the Kingoonya Bush pub. Kingoonya is a little over 40km from the Stuart Highway and Glendambo. The road is a dirt road which was lightly corrugated in parts when we drove through. The caravanpark is very reasonably priced with booking made over the phone. It is not a large park so bookings will avoid disappointment. From Kingoonya you can head further west toward the googs track or head straight south from Kingoonya down gawler ranges road as we did towards Wirrulla and eventually Ceduna, 380km away. The road is quite rough in places but you are rewarded with some very pretty scenery, wildlife and salt pans. by Real 4x4 Adventures

Discovery Parks Roxby Downs is 83km from Pimba (the Stuart Hwy) and 15km from Olympic Dam. we came from oodnadatta track (coward springs the night before). Coward Springs is 148km away partly on the Oodnadatta track and then Borefield Rd. Borefield road was mostly in good condition however there were a lot loose rocks. we saw a variety of wildlife on the Oodnadatta track side and whilst the road was graded and it was a road you drive through sand dunes which is really quite scenic and slightly resembles the Simpson desert without it being a sandy track. it was also great to see red sand. The actual caravan park was really impressive. Video by real 4x4 adventures.

The Coward Springs Campground is just off the side of the Oodnadatta Track. Once upon a time it was once a station as part of the the old Ghan Railway Line. It is now an amazing camp ground. As per the information at the site, The Peake is a major cultural and natural heritage site having strong links with Aboriginal people and containing evidence of early European Expansion through northern South Australia. In 1870 The Peake station was the furthest outpost of settlement in South Australia. The Peak Telegraph Repeater Station closed in 1891. The Peake Telegraph Station ruin is one of only 3 telegraph stations from the Original Overland Telegraph Line. The drive in from the Oodnadatta track in approximately 20km. It's a scenic drive and rough in patches. We did not see any other cars. We really enjoyed seeing this place and recommend it. by Real 4x4 Adventures

The Algebuckina Bridge on the Oodnadatta Track is situated about 50km South East of Oodnadatta along the Oodnadatta Track. When it opened in 1892 it was the longest bridge in South Australia. You can camp at the bridge which is what we did. The sunsets are amazing. There is no power, water or amenities available and when we were there it was pet friendly. by Real 4x4 Adventures
